Centre for systems and information technologiesThe Centre was established in March 2007 in order to connect researchers in the fields of systems and information technologies. In the inital stage, we will focus mainly on:
The members of the centre closely cooperate with other organizations (Jozef Stefan Institute, Iskraimpuls d.o.o.) and with a group of external coworkers. Some of them have experience from longer stays at research institutions abroad, such as University of New South Wales in Sydney, Czech Technical University in Prague, University of Glasgow, Hamilton Institute at the National University of Ireland, Watterloo University in Canada, etc. Currently, work is concentrated on the analysis of large textual databases with the aim of generating new hypotheses for explaining complex, not yet sufficiently understood phenomena in biomedical filed. A newly developed method that searches for connections in disjunct literatures is applied to uncovering relations with a potential to enhance understanding of autism. Improvement of simulation models for air pollution dispersion over complex terrain is also one of the research topics in which the centre is involved. Other working fields include:
