Objectives of the course

The electronics parts are shown from the technological and from the physical side. Students will be able to use those elements and will know their characterisation.

Not required.

  • Introduction
  • p-n junction
  • Metal-semiconductor junctions (Schottky barrier diode, ohmic contacts)
  • Bipolar junction transistor
  • Field effect transistors (Junction Field Effect Transistor, Metal Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor, Modulation Doped Field Effect Transistor)
  • metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor
  • Optoelectronic devices: photodetectors (P-I-N detectors, avalanche detectors, phototransistor)
  • Light Emitting Diodes
  • LASER
  • Optical modulators
  • Optical communication system (optical fiber)
