Technical Physics in Viticulture and Winemaking

Objectives of the course

Students learn the fundamentals of classical physics in the fields of mechanics, thermodynamics, waves and optics. They acquire understanding of fundamental conservation laws (energy, momentum, ...) on practical examples, and get familiar with physical working methods and basic mathematical techniques for a quantitative interpretation of physical properties of the phenomena in nature and for solution of simple physical problems.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of mathematics at secondary education level.

Assessment methods

Partial written examination, final oral examination.

Course contents

Lectures

Systems of units, uncertainty of measurements laws of motion, work and energy, linear and angular momentum, gravity, static equilibrium and elasticity, fluid mechanics, oscillations, temperature, heat, first and second law of thermodynamics, mechanical, electromagnetic and sound waves, geometric optics and elementary optical devices.

Tutorials

Theoretical exercises.
