Computer scienceObjectives of the courseThe objective of the course is to inform the students about the basic principles of the computer science, computer programming languages and object-oriented programming concepts. The objective is also to prepare the students to use the computers as a tool for numerically solving mathematical problems. The course begins with a history, arhitecture and operation of computers. Basics of programming algorithms, fortran, C and C++, are introduced in a way, that is appropriate for scientific solving of problems. More attention is paid to programming languages C and partially to C++, that features efficient object-oriented programming. Numerical methods include solving of array equations, static data analysis and basics of partial differenctial equations solving. PrerequisitesNot required. Assessment methodsAccomplished practical work, oral examination. Course contentsThe course covers topics such as: Computer science and numerical methods. Recommended reading
