Slovene Literature IIIObjectives of the courseThe aim is to make students acquainted with the basic concepts used in literary history and in relation to Slovene literature in particular. At the same time, students are taught to take critical approach to the naming of literary periods, trends, currents and other literary phenomena and to think critically about interrelatedness of these phenomena. PrerequisitesSlovene Literature II. Assessment methodsTwo tests, a seminar paper, an oral examination. Course contentsThis course will explore the main characteristics of Slovene literature during the period between the two world wars (1919-1941) and during the Second World War (1941-1945). It will present the literary-historical approach to this period with respect to literary trends and currents, the relationship between the new reality and social realism of the first half of the 20th century and historical realism of the second half od the 19th century, and socially committed literature. The significance of Slovene literature in the regions along the western border of Slovenia will also be studied. Recommended reading
