    Erasmus programme

Erasmus is the EU's flagship education and training programme, enabling two hundred thousand students to study and work abroad each year, as well as supporting co-operation actions between higher education institutions across the Europe. It caters not only for students, but also for professors and business staff who want to teach abroad and for university staff who want to be trained abroad. It forms part of the EU's Lifelong Learning Programme and supports co-operation between higher education institutions of 31 countries.

Higher education institutions, which want to participate in Erasmus actions, must have an Erasmus University Charter. The Charter aims to guarantee a high level of quality in mobility and cooperation by setting out fundamental principles for all Erasmus actions that participating institutes must follow.

    • Student mobility

As a student of higher education, Erasmus programme offers you the possibility to go abroad to both study and do a placement or traineeship. Your study or training programme abroad will be agreed before your departure by all parties involved to ensure you get recognition after your mobility period.

To participate in Erasmus student mobility, you should first contact the Erasmus coordinator/International Office of your home institution. The Erasmus coordinator/International Office will inform you about possible host institutions, the selection procedure and financial support.

If you want to come and study at the University of Nova Gorica as an Erasmus student in the academic year 2010/2011, you should send the Student application form by post to our International Office before the deadline.

      • The deadline for the first semester or the whole academic year is 30 June 2010.
      • The deadline for the second semester is 30 November 2010.

Once you send your Application form to us, we check to ensure that it is eligible and complete before passing it to the appropriate Academic/Departmental Erasmus Coordinator for formal approval. If we accept you as an Erasmus student, you receive a formal letter of admission. If there is paperwork missing or any other problem with your application, you will be contacted directly by the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator. For this reason, please ensure that you write legibly on the form.

After that, all parties (student, host institution and sending institution) need to sing the Learning agreement. This has to be done before the student leaves for Slovenia or at the latest within 14 days of student's arrival. In the main this will depend on when the timetable of the courses will be known.

Please note that information on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can be found at the web site of Academic programmes.

After you have completed your study programme successfully, a Transcript of Records will be handed out by our Students Office and the (ECTS) credits for the course units mentioned in the Learning Agreement will be integrated into your curriculum at the home institution. In addition, the International Office will issue a certificate of your stay.
